Dr Eun Kyoung Hwang is the Director of the Aquatic Plant Variety Center at the National Institute of Fisheries Science in Korea. She holds a PhD from Pukyong National University, Busan, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Marine Lab, Queen’s University of Belfast, UK. Her current research focuses on seaweed cultivation, breeding, and protection of aquatic plant varieties. Her expertise includes ecological and aquacultural aspects of seaweeds, mass production of various alga species, hybridisation of kelp for strain improvement, and extending culture periods of Saccharina.
