The presentation titled Algae blooms: from environmental problem to biotechnological opportunity highlights MicroBio Engineering’s approach to addressing algae blooms. Exemple of algal bloom on Qingdao and Caribbean beaches, as well as Lake Okeechobee are explained. It contrasts traditional wastewater treatments, like oxidation ponds, with advanced methods such as High Rate Ponds (HRP). The presentation also introduces the Rnew project, which focuses on recycling nutrients, energy, and water, transforming algae blooms into a resource for sustainable biotechnological solutions.
