The UniSC Seaweed Research Group, located on the Sunshine Coast, focuses on genome-led production and biodiscovery of Asparagopsis. Working with the Queensland government, they explore Asparagopsis taxiformis genome for diverse applications. Initially targeting livestock, they now expand to seafood, enhancing salmon and rabbitfish immunity and growth. A benefit-sharing agreement supports the production, processing, and utilization of Asparagopsis to boost sustainable aquaculture.
