This presentation explores the role of government-led insurance in the Republic of Korea’s aquaculture sector, particularly in southern Korea. It discusses how the country avoided the "Tragedy of the Commons" in seaweed farming through effective license control and risk management strategies. Focus is placed on managing natural and biological disasters in aquaculture beds, with a specific emphasis on the role of Aquaculture Disaster Insurance in mitigating risks and ensuring the sustainability of seaweed farming.
