This presentation offers Corbion’s perspective on using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to develop sustainable microalgae-based products. Corbion’s fully integrated algae production setup focuses on sustainability, exemplified by their product AlgaPrime DHA. A comparative LCA revealed that AlgaPrime DHA has a lower global warming potential (GWP) than traditional fish oil. Despite ISO 14040/44 compliance, challenges remain around harmonizing methodologies, data collection, sharing, and LCA digitalization.
