This presentation explores advancing European Nori cultivation, focusing on its biology and life cycle control. Nori's high commercial value, dynamic physiology, and complex life cycle with multiple reproductive pathways are discussed, along with the diversity of five European Nori species. Key challenges include understanding high intra- and interspecific variations and clarifying species-specific reproduction traits. Europe currently lacks accurate strain selection, a biobank, full reproductive control, and demonstration of large-scale cultivation.
