The presentation “Opportunities for seaweed biorefinery” describes the TNO seaweed biorefinery lab. This lab was utilized to produce seaweed-based biofuels in the EU project MacroFuels and HighFly. In the EFRO project Zcore seaweed was converted to biobased paint components. Concepts, challenges and real-life results are described. The presentation finishes with a word of caution as to how complex multi-product cascading valorization concepts are.
