Justine Dumay is a Professor at the ISOMer laboratory at Nantes Université, specialising in enzymatic engineering for macroalgae valorisation. Since starting her academic career as a lecturer in 2009, and becoming a professor in 2021, she has focused on the extraction and purification of valuable seaweed biomolecules, particularly R-phycoerythrin. Her work utilizes enzymatic methods to enhance sustainable extraction processes and deepen understanding of seaweed physiology. A member of the French Phycological Society since 2013 and its president since 2018, she has also been a thesis supervisor since 2015 and heads the new ISOMer laboratory.
